Well, I’m not sleeping all day, but I did sleep in and then take a nap…*grin*

The graduation was pretty good, as far as those things go. The dean’s speech was long, but not so long you wanted to go to sleep. The referenecs to “Who Moved My Cheese?” were funny. At least, I thought they were. I’m hoping they were supposed to be funny, otherwise the poor guy’s speech was a total flop.

Mom looked thrilled and excited in her cap and gown, and I took a ton of photos. The party afterwards was pretty good too. Yummy food, folks I haven’t seen for a while, and the divorced grandparents and their spouses managed to behave around each other. Although I’m totally miffed at my grandfather for his wholly inappropriate comments about “those Mexicans.” Maybe he forgot that his GRANDDAUGHTER is one of “those Mexicans.” I’m making excuses on the bounds that he just forgot or else is just totally tactless. But I’m still fuming.

I have tomorrow off too. Lots of laziness abounds.

After today, Spring Term is officially over. I breathlessly await the posting of grades next week…okay, not really, but grades are useful anyway.

In the Kewl Department, I’m going to get to see the Indigo Girls in July. I’m tabling for NARAL and so I get in for free…It’s the band that is giving NARAL the tickets, so they now TOTALLY rock in my book. It’s going to be sooo cool.

I’ve been reading online a lot about making cold-process soap, and now I really want to try it. Chemical reactions are cool :) If I ever get brave enough to play with caustic chemicals this summer, I’ll be sure to share my experiences. I’m sure it will be quite educational, lol.

Tonight we’re going to play in Portland. Tomorrow we are going to my mom’s graduation ceremony. Sunday, I am going to sleep all day…*grin*

Happy Friday!

I got the paper all finished. It’s not too great, but definitely not the worst thing I’ve written either. The midterm paper was worse. Hopefully, that’ll mean a decent grade in that class.

Yesterday, I tried to go to my anthropology final. The professor keeps the syllabus (with such relevent dates) on the web, and the final was marked as being June 11, at 7:30am. So, I dutifully drag myself out of bed at that ungodly hour, and trot on down for my final. What’s this? All these people are here for a calculus final!! PANIC!!! I call DH, who digs out my paper syllabus and says the final is on Thursday. Well, crap. So I drive home, go to back to bed (I’d only gotten about three hours sleep anyway), and check the website when I wake up again. It now says the final is on Thursday. Ooops. I guess I wasn’t the only one in a panic.

How evil of them to do such a thing.

I’m trying to finish a term paper about Gloria Anzaldúa’s The Borderlands/La Frontera. The book was amazing, and the ideas really, really resonated with me. She writes about Chicana feminism, and how women of color live on the borders of cultures. I’m mixed race, which is also living on the borders, since neither culture will fully accept me as a member.

It’s all very deep stuff and I’m having a hard time churning it out. *sigh* Almost done though.

The stupid pain in my back/neck is back. I call it “The Spot” since it all starts in this one area near my left shoulder blade, and if pressure/massage is applied there, relief is nearly instant. I try to get a massage twice a year to keep it from tightening up and causing pain, and I’m waaay overdue. It’s next on my list, that’s for sure. In the meantime, OUCH!

Contemplating pizza for dinner. We haven’t had it in ages, we’ve been very healthy… But it sounds so good, and I haven’t slept in over a day and I’m tired. I think pizza might just be a good idea.

Hey, Mondays are Cat and Girl days. Go see, it’s a cute little web comic.

Since I didn’t post yesterday (my bad), and I meant to, this will be a mite longish. Oh well…

Anyway, yesterday I went to a NARAL training, which was fun, and then to their gala auction which was more fun. I bid on two things during the silent auction, and won! Silent auctions are so great. It helped that my two things were quite close together, so I was able to keep an eye on bidding :) I bought two ceramic pins, one with a seashell motif, and one with a salamandar motif.

I’m currently trying to put a poster together for my sustainability class on the life cyle of a grassroots movement. Finding clip art that doesn’t stink is not an easy task, lol.

For dinner, I made a Mexican dish that used simply a *ton* of annatto. In case you don’t know, annatto is a seed that has a unique flavor and also turns things orange. Cheddar cheese is frequently colored with annatto, for example. So the dish was called Mucbi-pollo, and was a pork-chicken tamale pie type thing. Total yum. We’ll have leftovers :)

Sigh. I wish this term would hurry up and be over. I have had ZERO concentration skills for school this term, and it seems interminable.

I’m currently listening to Coldplay. Their CD Parachutes simply rocks my world… I highly recommend it.
