Today was Media Round-Up Day in Claire Blogland. Here are the stragglers:
If Clark Runs, All Bets are Off–Interesting. I don’t watch much TV, so I’m not too familiar with this guy, but a progressive with a strong military background? Sounds pretty interesting to me…
Americans Working More, Earning Less–this is you and me, folks. A quote: “The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that, even after three years at a job, Americans average just 10.2 annual vacation days. Meanwhile, our peers abroad typically enjoy 4-6 weeks of paid leave?even those employed by the same transnational corporations as U.S. workers.”
This letter was written by Peter DeFazio, my former congressman (before I moved to Portland), and it’s great reading. I wish I still lived in his district, because I was really proud to have him representing my (and Oregon’s) interests.
I really agree with this editorial about Howard Dean (and the Democratic Party).
I don’t want another four years of Bush. Right now, things are looking reasonably good for Howard Dean, so that’s where I’m putting my vote. Hell, I’m probably going to switch my party affiliation from “independent” to “democrat” just to vote for him in Oregon’s primary. That’s a pretty serious step for me, since I’ve been proudly independent for years now.
But I don’t want another four years of BushCo.
Yet another editorial on why I hate Wal-Mart. Yes, I will finally admit that I actually hate Wal-Mart and all that it represents for workers in the US.
I’m exceedingly happy. In a few weeks, my soap and lotions will be carried in the gift shop of the Leach Botanical Gardens here in Portland. Yippee!
The volunteer who does the buying for the gift shop liked my soap. If it works out, we have something else cooking up too…
Soap Dreams is starting to grow, and I love every minute of it.
I have a meeting this afternoon with a gift shop representative to discuss carrying my soap in her shop. Details to follow if it works out
We had a great weekend at the market. I had another person come up and say “I came down just to visit YOUR booth!” I love that.
I sold a TON of product, so it’s a good thing I’ll have two work weeks to make stuff. We’re going camping this weekend. Yippee!
