Blasphemy (of sorts)

I got the new Sarah McLachlan CD for Christmas this year, and after repeated listenings, dare I say I’m somewhat disapointed?

Her voice is still great, and the lyrics are fine as well (once you read them), but the whole thing (with the exception of “Fallen”) sounds like boring adult-lite radio–what happened to the melodies that grab you? I miss the spare Sarah, of the piano and guitar, that sound like a band instead of a bunch of synthesizers. The only song I can even recall after several listenings is “Fallen.”

Sigh. I’ll keep listening to it though; maybe it’ll grow on me.

I really love Dave Matthews’ new CD though. I was really impressed. It’s definitely NOT like DMB, but that isn’t a bad thing. I look forward to more DMB, but in the meantime, this album is keeping me amused.

That’s it in music round-up land…

It’s Monday. It snowed this morning… It was a real pain walking down to the MAX stop at 7 AM. The streets downtown were still a mess, and the sidewalks were worse. Hopefully I won’t have to slosh my way back up the hill when I go home this afternoon…
