Scent-astic!

Fragrances for cinnamon vanilla soap have been ordered (round 1, anyway). One of my suppliers had a cinnamon vanilla on sale, so I snagged some. I’m also going to try blending vanilla with cinnamon leaf essential oil, but the cinnamon leaf doesn’t smell as much like ground cinnamon as I’d like. It’s more green-smelling, which makes sense because it’s from leaves, not the bark. Essential oil from cinnamon bark is really irritating to the skin, so I don’t use it.

Anyway, experimentation should commence later this week. I also ordered a pear scent and an apricot scent… I’m such a sucker for fruit scents.

    What about pear-ginger?

I’m a sucker for grapefruit – used to buy an interesting grapefruit-mint body lotion, but stopped ’cause even though I loved the smell, it wasn’t great lotion.

The cinnamon-vanilla sounds nice as well.

Hmmm…I might need to come see you some weekend soon…

  2. I’ll second the feeling about grapefruit, but I love citrus scents.

  3. Claire,

Mrs. Laquedem thanks you very much: she is looking forward to the cinnamon vanilla.

Ooh ooh! Pear ginger! Now *that* sounds yummy! I have a great grapefruit peppermint in the wings, I just have to test it out to see how much I need to use (citrus is notorious for disappearing in soap). DH really likes the Grapefruit Peppermint stuff that Bath and Bodyworks used to carry (stupid them, they discontinued it) so I’ve been trying to make a duplicate of it. I love citrus stuff too.

LOL… Now I’m totally reminded of this awesome recipe for bread made with canned pears (pureed) and black pepper. It sounded really bizarre until I made it and then realized that pear and spicy stuff (like black pepper or ginger) go together really well. I’ll dig out the recipe and post it.
