Rain, Life, Soap

Every once in a while I feel like crawling into my closet and not coming out. I never do, but it’s been tempting.

Luckily, nice things happen and the feeling goes away. Last week I was convinced I was never going to get a job because the VBC and the temp agency refuse to give references. This week, I have found a way around that. The lovely lady that found me at the Saturday Market (and whom I’ve kept in touch with) is willing to provide a reference of sorts about the scope of the job, the responsibilities, etc. This was good enough for the people I’m currently waiting on. They called me for a second interview, by the way. Nice things.

We had a halfway decent weekend at the market also. This, despite deluges of rain and the fact that Rose Festival sucks away most of our customers’ money. This is good. We made enough money to pay our rent and buy groceries this week. We were short, going into the weekend.

Also, the cinnamon vanilla soap has been made. It looks a lot like marble, which might be aesthetically unpleasing… But it smells good! I used the cinnamon vanilla, more vanilla, and added cinnamon leaf EO for good measure. It’s nice. Should be on the website soon and will be featured at the Saturday Market starting next weekend, as well. Mr. L, should you be reading this, if you order through the website, ignore the shipping charge — it’s a lot lower for local stuff, if you want it mailed.

That’s about it. I’m still here, just been quiet. Oh yeah, and then there’s this. If I get a job, it’s going to cut into my playing time significantly… *giggle*

  1. Claire, I can’t make it to Saturday Market this weekend — I have a previous engagement to follow the Governor around — but hope to make it next weekend to pick up some cinnamon vanilla. Mrs. L. is excited to learn that it’s ready. If I don’t come in next weekend, then I’ll order through the website.

No problemo :) We’re scheduled to be down at the market indefinitely (as in, no vacation in sight for a while), so that’s okay. Otherwise, local postage runs at about two bucks, which might be cheaper than gas to drive downtown…
